As actors and writers continue to strike, demanding a fair share of the billions that film and TV studios rake in every year, George Clooney is among the A-list “megastars” who have thus far stayed away from the picket lines for a possible mix of reasons that are being discussed and debated in Hollywood.Clooney voiced early support for the strike by SAG-AFTRA, issuing a strongly worded statement the day after the 160,000-member actors union voted on July 13 to stop work on film and TV productions. “This is an inflection point in our industry,” Clooney said. “For our industry to survive that has to change. For actors, that journey starts now.”But over the past week, Clooney hasn’t looked like a worker whose union is on strike. Clooney, who is worth an estimated $500 million, has been seen in Italy, enjoying elegant dinner dates with his attorney wife Amal Clooney at restaurants in Lake Como, where he owns an 18th-century vacation villa, Page Six re...Contra Costa man handed 6-year prison sentence for crash that killed two teenagers

SANTA CLARA — Neither Trey Lance nor Sam Darnold sounds bitter. Their reps are scarce. Their jobs are less prestigious. But they soldier on, jockeying for second-team reps in 49ers training camp.Such is the life they must accept, and thrive in, amid Brock Purdy’s comeback.Purdy has lined up for every first-team snap — 21 on Thursday, 18 on Friday — in his first practices since a devastating elbow injury in the NFC Championship Game. That leaves Lance and Darnold, former No. 3 overall draft picks and “franchise” quarterbacks, rotating in turnstile fashion.Darnold, a newcomer by way of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, already sees a unique trait in Purdy.“It’s the poise,” Darnold responded after Friday’s practice. “Going into his second year, you can see it in the way he plays and prepares. The kid’s got poise. I don’t know if you can coach or teach that quality. He’s got it.”A year after =coach Kyle Shanahan ope...Charges dropped in San Francisco Sanchez Stairs crash

Q: Why is Microsoft trying to get me to switch to the new Outlook in my Mail program?A: In its usual confusing way, Microsoft is signaling an upcoming major change for those currently using Mail and Calendar apps in Windows 10 and 11.The suggestion to ‘Try the new Outlook’ in the upper right corner of Windows Mail is the precursor to what will be a forced transition sometime in 2024.Microsoft recently announced these plans as a way to consolidate tasks like mail, contacts and calendars from separate apps to a unified one that they are calling Outlook for Windows.Planned Confusion? What makes this decision confusing for many is the existence of many tools that use the Outlook name both online and via apps.Understanding the DifferencesOutlook has been the default email program in Microsoft Office since 1997 and is still part of the subscription version of Office 365 which is now called Microsoft 365.Outlook.com is a free web-based version that replaced Hotmail which is Micr...2 years after a woman and her dog were slain in an Atlanta park, police renew calls for public help
