Through the miserable years of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Bob Wachter, the University of California-San Francisco medical department chair, became a beacon of guidance to hundreds of thousands who followed his social media tips on avoiding the virus that killed more than 1.1 million Americans.Though he works in a hospital that treated COVID patients, Wachter managed to avoid the respiratory disease through a regimen shared with his 274,000 Twitter followers of crowd avoidance, medical-grade mask-wearing, vaccination, boosting and a little luck as well. But this week, he told them on Twitter, “my luck ran out.”“My case is a cautionary tale, particularly for the ‘just a cold’ folks,” Wachter tweeted in a long thread about his ordeal Wednesday evening. “Mine definitely was not… I literally have scars to show for it.”Few today pay much mind to the virus that upended life around the world from 2020 through 2022. OAKLAND – The A’s will open their 56th, and likely final, season at the Coliseum at home on March 28 against the Cleveland Guardians. The potential final A’s regular-season game in Oakland could be Sept. 26 against the Texas Rangers. The A’s have begun the process of applying to MLB for a move to Las Vegas. Their lease at the Coliseum ends after the 2024 season and the team confirmed last month it plans to play at the 55-year-old facility for at least next season. The team’s relocation bid is down to a vote by MLB’s 30 owners, with 23 votes needed to move the team. But even if approval is granted, construction on the new stadium isn’t expected to be completed until 2028, leaving at least a three-year gap for the A’s to find a suitable stadium to play home games, although it appears unlikely the team will remain in Oakland after the Coliseum lease expires. This will be the seventh time in franchise history that the A’s have opened their season against Cleveland, with the mos...Condominium sells for $1.6 million in Los Gatos

Logwood showed no emotion and did not speak during the hearing.Logwood earlier pleaded no contest to a single voluntary manslaughter charge in the 2008 killing of Eric Ford, 22, at an East Oakland gas station. Logwood also pleaded guilty to a firearm-related sentencing enhancement, and also acknowledged being on probation at the time of his arrest. The sentence came just four months after McCannon rejected another offer from Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price over concerns the county’s new t...SF Giants 2024 schedule: When will Judge, Correa make first trips to Oracle Park?
