ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The CDC explains early adverse life experiences, such as trauma or a history of abuse can put those who experience them at risk of mental illness. Fulton County schools along with Schenectady City schools are focusing on their children's mental health by providing support options students can feel comfortable going to. South Glens Falls HS students complete push-up challenge The Family Counseling Center highlighted the Mobile Crisis Unit at Fulton County school which allows students to express moments of extreme crisis. This can vary from suicidal thoughts to aggressive behaviors that put either a child or others at risk. The agency’s Mobile Crisis Counselor Jamal Vazquez, works with these children daily in efforts to de-escalate situations. Vazquez attempts to get the student into a safe mental space in order for transportation to the services they need. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An exhibit by fashion designer and Skidmore alumna Barbara Tfank will be on display at the Tang Teaching Museum in Saratoga. Tfank's designs have been worn by notable women such as Michelle Obama, Uma Thurman, Kate Winslet, and Adele. An interview with Joseph Bruchac, Saratoga Springs’ first Poet Laureate Skidmore explains Tfank graduated from Skidmore College in 1972 with a degree in education and received her master's degree from Stanford University. She then became a fashion design assistant for Cesarani in New York City and a stylist featured in Vanity Fair before becoming a successful costume designer for feature films. PITTSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Residents in Rensselaer County ended up stuck in a steep drainage near Pittstown State Forest after being ticketed for illegal target shooting by Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) forest rangers. Forest rangers were called to investigate illegal target shooting in Pittstown State Forest. A group of shooters was ticketed for damaging trees and left shortly after. DEC forest rangers say about 10 minutes after the party left, their truck slid on the ice and snow into a steep drainage. A tow was called, but because of the conditions and the location, the tow truck couldn't pull it out of the drainage.
