This year’s Country Summer Music Festival should be an absolute blast for music fans. The three-day festival, which runs June 16-18 at the Sonoma County Event Center at the Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, features one of its best-ever lineup of headliners.Lynyrd Skynyrd tops the bill on Day 1, giving fans a chance to hear such Southern-fried classic rock staples as “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “That Smell” and, of course, “Free Bird.”Other acts that day include Matt Stell, Frankie Ballard, Tenille Townes and Josh Gracin.Day 2 features headliner Eric Church, who released the debut album “Sinners Like Me” in 2006 and has since established himself among the country music genre’s all-time greats. He has released so many fantastic tunes over the years, but our short list would definitely include “Keep On,” “Guys Like Me,” “Talladega,” “Creepin'” and, perhaps fin...California ‘bounty hunters’ are earning money for voter signatures. Now, there’s a backlash

By Nadia Lopez | BloombergIt took less than 90 days for the oil and gas lobby to blow up one of Gavin Newsom’s major achievements. The California governor signed a bill to great fanfare in September to block new oil and gas wells within 3,200 feet of homes, schools and hospitals, cementing an effort that took decades for environmentalists to push through against business and union interests. But that’s when the California Independent Petroleum Association went to work. Representing 300 oil and gas producers, the organization quickly raised $21 million to recruit people to collect signatures — at shopping malls, farmers’ markets and grocery stores — and get enough support to put the issue to voters. The petitioners obtained 687,058 valid names, surpassing the threshold needed to put Senate Bill 1137 to a referendum in 2024 and placing Newsom’s new law on hold. The price tag for the industry: about $20 per signature. Now that effort is sparking backlash, not only from Newsom, a Democrat w...Three people killed in South Bay crime spree identified

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - With warmer temperatures moving into the Central Valley, it is essential to keep your pets safe from the heat - and a hot car is somewhere they can get especially hot.According to a state law passed in 2016, a person can not leave or confine an animal in "any unattended motor vehicle under conditions that endanger the health or well-being of an animal."California penal code 597.7 says endangering conditions include heat, cold, lack of ventilation, lack of food or water, or “other circumstances that could reasonably be expected to cause suffering, disability, or death to the animal.” Can a person take matters into their own hands if they see a pet trapped inside a hot car? The answer is yes.A "Good Samaritan Law" allows you to use any reasonable means necessary to rescue the animal which could mean breaking a window without having to pay for damages or face criminal charges. According to California Assembly Bill 797, also known as the Right to R...A's stadium plan hits speed bump in Nevada State Legislature

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The budget ended up as the sticking point as lawmakers adjourned Tuesday morning -- past their legal deadline -- without a complete spending plan delivered to Gov. Joe Lombardo.Assembly Bill 521 (AB521), a capital improvements bill, was up for a vote, but Republican Minority Leader Heidi Seevers Gansert announced that changes to the bill were not good enough. She said Republicans would vote the bill down.Gov. Joe Lombardo has 10 days to set the date for a special session to complete the work on the budget -- and whatever else he might include on the to-do list. More trouble for downtown SF as owner of Hilton, Parc 55 cease payments on hotel properties As observers waited to see if the A's baseball stadium or a package of tax breaks to lure movie studios to the Las Vegas valley would come up for a vote, it was money that spelled the end. Those two highly anticipated bills never came out of committee as sine die arrived -- the constitutionally mandated end of the...Game 3 awaits in the NBA Finals, with Heat loose and Nuggets facing adversity

MIAMI (AP) — Erik Spoelstra has preached about the value of adversity for months, not shying away from saying that it helped the Miami Heat get to these NBA Finals. And now Denver is dealing with a little taste of it as well.Game 3 of the NBA Finals is Wednesday night in Miami, the series between the eighth-seeded Heat and top-seeded Nuggets knotted at a game apiece. It got that way after Miami rallied to win Game 2 in Denver 111-108 on Sunday night, an outcome that prompted Nuggets coach Michael Malone to openly share frustrations — primarily over a lack of discipline on a lot of possessions.“We had a really good film session this morning,” Malone said Tuesday. “I gave an opportunity for everybody on our team to speak and talk about what they saw on the film. It was a very honest conversation. Guys owned what they needed to own. We have to learn from Game 2 to use it to our advantage.”In other words, Denver needs to do what Miami did coming out of Game 1.The Heat faced significant d...Juventus plans to leave Super League project after season of legal turmoil

TURIN, Italy (AP) — Juventus plans to leave the Super League project still being pursued by Real Madrid and Barcelona, though the club denied Tuesday it had been threatened with a European ban by UEFA.The three storied clubs are awaiting a ruling expected within weeks from the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg into their legal challenge against what they claimed is UEFA’s monopoly control of European club competitions. But Juventus responded to reports it already left the Super League by explaining it contacted the two Spanish clubs “to initiate a discussion period” about its exit. The three clubs were holdouts after the other nine Italian, Spanish and English clubs who joined them to launch the breakaway Super League in April 2021 renounced it within weeks of its quick failure.UEFA was a clear winner when the Luxembourg court gave a first, non-binding opinion in the Super League case in December that went against the clubs. It has been a tough season for Juventus’ owners, player...Charlotte men’s basketball coach Sanchez resigns after winning CBI title

PARIS (AP) — Novak Djokovic, in his words, felt “quite sluggish, quite slow” for nearly two full sets against Karen Khachanov in the the French Open quarterfinals Tuesday. Afterward, Djokovic called it his worst stretch of the tournament, a fair assessment. He dropped the opening set, something he hadn’t done at Roland Garros this year. As the second went to a tiebreaker in Court Philippe Chatrier, he knew it was vital to step up his game, bring forth his best. It’s one thing to seek perfection; it’s another entirely to deliver. As if merely wanting so made it so, Djokovic did what he’s done before at crucial moments over the years en route to 22 Grand Slam titles. Managing to choose the right shot every time, managing to put each ball precisely where he intended, Djokovic threw a shutout of a tiebreaker to point himself toward what would become a 4-6, 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-4 victory over the 11th-seeded Khachanov.Djokovic, who could meet No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in th...Latest news
