New safety resource aids swift response for St. Louis firefighters ST. LOUIS - An early-morning vacant home fire was frighteningly similar to one that cost a firefighter’s life nearly two years ago. That tragedy resulted in a new safety resource that the fire department said worked Thursday. Remarkably, firefighters were even faster as they found themselves in the middle of a rescue almost simultaneously with a safety alert.In the midst of a burning home near Natural Bridge and Union, we watched a valiant response from St. Louis firefighters. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Police recruits are learning what to do in domestic violence situations through role-playing at the St. Louis County Police Academy. "Learning in an environment like this where the role players aren't going to harm them is an important step in them learning what to do," said Detective Liz Edwards, St. Louis County Domestic Violence Unit. On Thursday, police recruits answered mock calls that lasted less than 20 minutes. Security measures increased after students stabbed at Van Nuys High School Security has been increased after two students were stabbed and several others were injured after a large brawl broke out at Van Nuys High School earlier this week. Parents are now pushing for the school district to implement more permanent safety measures before the next potential incident becomes even worse.Officials announced a Los Angeles school police officer will now be stationed on school grounds. (KRON) -- Multiple instances of metal theft were reported at Vallejo City Hall, including public art, the city announced Thursday in a press release. One of the three statue heads on the fountain between City Hall and the JFK Library was stolen. The missing statue is the head of Francisca Benicia Carrillo, the wife of Gen. Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo. The city was named after Gen. Vallejo who died in 1890, according to the City of Sonoma's website. The City of Benicia was named after Carrillo. The other two statue heads were stored away for security reasons as authorities continue to investigate the theft, the press release said.
